AdvancedsecuritysystemsusepassiveINFRARED(PIR) motiondetectors.Thesesensors"see"theinfraredenergyemittedbyanintruder'sbodyheat.Whenanintruderwalksintothefieldofviewofthedetector,thesensordetectsasharpincreaseininfraredenergy.Thetransmitterintheremotecontrolhandsetsendsoutpulsesofinfraredlightwhentheuserpressesabutton.Eachbuttonhasauniquepatternofinfraredpulses. Areceiverinthedevicerecognizesthispattern,causingthedevicetorespondaccordingly.Infraredcamerasdetectinfraredenergy(heat)andconvertsitintoanelectronicsignal.Thesignalsareprocessedtoproduceathermal imageonavideomonitor.
