Every day, animal shelters are struggling with the increasing rate of abandonment, and the sad part is, most of these animals are left to die a slow, lonely painful death unless they are lucky enough to be rescued. Tying an animal to a bench and leaving it for dead is murder! Why should pets pay for their owners’ ignorance? This atrocity needs to be stopped. In 2010, 7597 abandoned animals were taken in by the SPCA. That means 20 animals a day and an average of 1 per hour. Because we are the only animal welfare organisation taking in unlimited numbers of animals in Singapore, our shelter has limited vacancies for abandoned animals and most of these animals will have to be put to sleep, ending their physical and emotional suffering. Don’t let your pet suffer a tragic fate.
