Write your answers on the Printed Answer Booklet. Follow the instructions on the front cover of the answer booklet. Give non-exact numerical answers correct to 3 significant figures, or 1 decimal place in the case of angles in degrees, unless a different level of accuracy is specified in the question. You are expected to use an approved graphing calculator. Unsupported answers from a graphing calculator are allowed unless a question specifically states otherwise. Where unsupported answers from a graphing calculator are not allowed in a question, you must present the mathematical steps using mathematical notations and not calculator commands. You must show all necessary working clearly. The number of marks is given in brackets [ ] at the end of each question or part question. This document consists of 9 printed pages and 1 blank page. 8 H2 MA 9758/2026 RI Year 5 Promotion Examination 11 On 1 January 2025, Amy puts $100 into an ordinary account which pays no interest. In each calendar year, she deposits the same amount on the first day of every month. At the start of each new year, she increases her monthly deposit by $30 compared to the previous year. Thus she deposits $100 on the first day of every month in 2025, $130 on the first day of every month in 2026, and so on. (a) Find the year in which the total amount in the account will first exceed $50 000. Hence find the month in which this happens. [6] Amy’s mother, Beatrice, retired on 31 Dec 2024. On 1 Jan 2025, she puts $500 000 into a savings account that pays a monthl
