2 1128/01/Prelim/4EXP5NA/2021 Section A [10 marks] Question 1 Carefully read the text below, consisting of 12 lines, about the drought in Taiwan . The first and last lines are correct. For eight of the lines, there is one grammatical error in each line. There are two more lines with no errors. If there is NO error in a line, put a ( √ ) in the space provided. But now the bottom of the lake is Instagram -famous for a grim reason: one of the worst drought s to hit the island in decades. The parched lake bed – with snake cracks across the ground as far as the eye can see – have drawn the attention of influencers, who have trekked to the site to take visually arresting photos of the terrain and posted it online. The situation is extremely dire. Water supplies for agricultural irrigation have been shut off across its farmland and farmers whom have been hit hard are worried . Household in the areas under t ight restrictions also go without running water twice a week. The authorities are drilling extra wells, but military plan es are dumping cloud -seeding chemicals in hopes at triggering downpours. The Ministry of Finance allocate 2.5 billion New Taiwan dollars in March to drill wells and build emergency seawater desalination facilities.
