Sunshine Secondary School Values-in-Action Society In line with our school vision of nurturing student leaders who care for school and nation, our school’s VIA Society looks towards developing students who are caring citizens and are concerned about giving back to the community. Our VIA Student Ambassadors lead their peers in Values -in-Action planning and reflection as well as in embarking on projects to help the less privileged in our community. Our Service Learning platforms include partnerships with Touch Community Services, The Salvati on Army and Food from the Heart to conduct various programmes and activities. TOUCH Community Services Meals-on-Wheels Provides meals for seniors who are home-bound and living alone. Volunteers help with meal preparations and deliveries for lunch and dinner. Befriender Provides art and craft activities and games for seniors at the centre. Volunteers plan and facilitate art and craft activities and games for seniors at the centre. The Salvation Army Academic Coaching and Mentoring Provides coaching and activities for children. Volunteers coach children and youth in their schoolwork, over a 3 to 6- month period as well as organise fun activities or outings for them. Fundraising Activities Raise funds for the underprivileged Volunteers raise funds or organise collection drives for pre-loved items in their schools by exercising their creativity and entrepreneurship skills for a good cause. Food from the Heart Bread Run Feeds the needy with safe- for-consumption bread that would otherwise have been thrown away. Volunteers are assigned a route that comprises the pick-up of bread from our Bread Run partners and the drop-off of bread at our bread distribution points. School Goodie Bag Provides underprivileged primary and secondary school students and their families with food rations. Volunteers raise funds in their schools for food purchase and operating costs such as transportation and storage.
