People often has multiple motives for engaging in any one behaviour. Motivation might be extrinsic, whereby an typical person is inspired in outside forces such as other people or rewards. Motivation can also be intrinsic, whereby the inspire comes from within. Study the information carefully and plan your answer before beginning to write. Question 2 In your school grounds, there is some land which is not used at the moment. One idea is to make it a quiet garden where students can relax during school brea k times. The Principal asks you, the Head of Pride of the Student Council, to find out what the students think of this idea and to suggest other ways of using this land. The Principal asks you to write an email about the best use for the piece of land. You must include the following: • what students think about having a quiet garden • what other ideas students have for using the land and why • which one of all the ideas you would choose • how you and the student population could help to achieve this. Write your email in a polite tone . It should be informative so that the Principal can make an informed decision. Start your email with ‘Dear Mr Lim’ and remember to supply a date. For this week, Mr Lim, our Principal, is thinking of transforming an empty plot of land in our school compound into a quiet garden. What do you think? Feel free to share your opinions and be as creative in your suggestions! The sky is the limit, they say ☺ Voices of Northstars We already have a mini garden in school. I do not think we need another one. We could use the land to build another indoor sports hall. With Safe Management Measures, there seem to be fewer areas for us to do sports anyway. - Nuraishah, 3A2 Wow! I think having a quiet garden is a wonderful idea. My friends and I can go there when we need a time out. It would be nice if there are more benches for us to sit and more flowers for us to enjoy. So I do not think having a garden is a good idea, unless it’s an indoor garden that is air-conditioned. Either that, we could build a cafeteria. That would promote socialisation skills.
