Answer two questions, one from Section A and one from Section B Write your answer on the separate writing paper provided. If you use more than one sheet of paper, fasten the sheets together. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR CANDIDATES Start the answer to each section on a fresh sheet of paper and submit each section separately. This question paper consists of 2 printed pages including this page.
Section A (30 marks) Answer one (1) question 1,000 – 1,200 words 1. Discuss the proposition that the only thing we know is that we know nothing. 2. ‘Truth is what we make of it’. Discuss this st atement with reference to two different fields of knowledge Section B (30 marks) Answer one (1) question 1,000 – 1,200 words 1. ‘Some modes of inquiry are less reliable and hence, less useful than others.’ Discuss this proposition with reference to historical inquiry and at least one other mode of inquiry. 2. The East-West dichotomy may be an illusion, but it is a useful illusion. Discuss. 3. National identities are an obstacle to knowledge construction. Do you agree? 4. How we acquire knowledge is less important than what we gain from knowledge. Discuss. End of paper
