L1 Valid interpretation of the source, but does not answer directly to if the cartoonist is a supporter [1] e.g. Britain made a wrong choice to leave the EU. L2 Answers based on misinterpretation of the source [2] e.g. The cartoonist is not a supporter of Britain leaving the EU as they are going to sink together with the boat that represents EU. L3 Answers that does not provide a reason for the decision being a right choice [3] i.e. repeating of issue question e.g. The cartoonist is not a supporter of Britain leaving the EU as it is the right decision for them. L4 Valid interpretation of the source, providing reason for the decision being a right choice [4-5] Award higher mark for supported answers. e.g. The cartoonist is a supporter of Britain leaving the EU as Britain will be able to escape all the problems that is facing EU that will eventually cause the whole union to collapse. This is evident from the large boat with the EU flag surrounded with problems such as economic failure, political correctness, debts and immigration.. This means that there are a lot of problems that the EU is facing and they are such severe problems that it was almost impossible to solve. At the same time, the cartoon also shows a small boat representing Britain rowing away from the main EU boat towards the peaceful sea with a bright sun. This means that the Brexit allows Britain to escape all the potential problems they might face if they continue to stay in the EU. [5] 5
