This is illustrated in the source where the people are crowding around the word “HATE” and are unravelling it. This shows that even though they are removing it, the presence of the word shows that hate exists among New Zealanders. There are people who hate others, and as such this shows that the author thinks negatively of the New Zealanders and hence is not a supporter. 2-3 L3 Supports, based on portrayal Award 4m for identifying positive portrayal, 5m for explaining positive portrayal. The cartoonist is a supporter of New Zealanders as he portrays them in a positive manner as being inclusive. This is illustrated in the source where the people are working together to remove the word “HATE” and “Let’s unravel it, let’s pull it apart. Let’s make something better. With aroha for our Muslim whanau”. This shows that the people in New Z ealand are inclusive towards people from different backgrounds and are willing to work together to achieve harmony in the society . And they are showing their support for the Muslims who suffered the mosque attacks in March. As the cartoonist depicts the New Zealanders in a positive way and highlighting their good efforts, hence he is a supporter of New Zealanders. 4-5
