Lithospheric Processes, Hazards and Management 1 Photographs 1A and 1B show different landforms formed from weathering processes. (a) Briefly describe the landforms shown and identify them. [3] (b) Explain how weathering has resulted in the formation of these landforms. [5] (c) How are the results of weathering shown in these photographs different from those seen in other types of weathering processes? [4] The Globalisation of Economic Activity 2 Figure 2 shows changes in the structure of employment in Japan from 1980 to 2006. (a) Describe the changes to the structure of employment from 1980 to 2006. [3] (b) Account for the changes in the secondary industry. [6] (c) Explain the socio-economic effects of the changes in the secondary industry. [3]

3 Hydrologic Processes, Hazards and Management 3 EITHER Figure 3 shows the storm hydrographs of 3 different basins – Basin A, B and C. (a) Describe the storm hydrograph variations shown in all 3 basins and identify one possible reason for each basin. [4] (b) Explain your reasons for the variations shown in all 3 basins. [ 4 ] (c) Briefly compare and explain the use of storm hydrographs to drainage density in the attempt to account for the characteristics of b a s i n s . [ 4 ] Urban Issues and Challenges 3 OR Figure 4 shows housing areas in Mexico City. (a) Account for the distribution of ciudades perdidas (temporary squatter settlements) in Mexi
