28 Everton Road #16-156 Singapore 423028 16 January 2016 Dear Uncle Sam, It’s been a week since you last came to visit. I’m already missing the captivating stories about your escapades in London. How are things in London? Mum told me Jacob recently crushed his competition in his school’s sports day100m event. Maybe the two of us should race the next time we meet to find out if the sprinting gene indeed runs in our family. Oh, please say hi to Auntie May for me. Firstly, thank you so much for offering to get me a present to help me further my education after my ‘O’ levels. Even though all three items would be beneficial to me in their own unique ways, I feel that the laptop would be the most useful. Kicking off the seemingly unending list of benefits, the laptop offers a larger screen than both the smartphone and tablet combined and doubled! As my eyesight is considerably terrible, a larger screen would be the most practical -- it puts the least strain on my eyes. The laptop even provides instantaneous word processing, printing and an unparalleled memory capacity. Never will I have to partake in the gruesome task of deleting my old projects in search of space to house my new ones. What truly defines the laptop is it enables me to easily type out and print out my homework. With my current ancient desktop, I need to wait an eternity for it to start up and must repeatedly spam the “print” button, before it can processes what I want to print. By the time I’m done with the whole grueling process, I’d have grown a five o’clock shadow and even have spare time to groom it. Embracing my newfound superpower -- “efficient time usage” -- I will have leisure time that can be used to revise my other subjects or read up on next week’s chapter. To sum up, I’m forever gratified for this spectacular gift as it’ll allow me to have more time to do more things I want. Plus, no longer will I need to worry about being scolded by my teacher for my messy handwriting! Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
