2017 O Level P1 Situational Writing To: rumelu88@gmail.com From: lukaku929@hotmail.com Date: 9 Jul 2018 Subject: Choice of Fitness Gift Dearest Edmund, So glad to see you doing so well in London, bro! Congratulations on your promotion. I’m so thankful for your generosity. As you know, with the impending dreaded Big O – the O levels of course -- I’ve been studying really hard over the last two years since you’ve been gone. And yes, I’ve sadly neglected my health. Thankfully, your offer of a personal trainer would get me back into the pink of health once more. For a start, the trainer – preferably a lady (Just kidding!) – can create an exercise plan customised to my needs. He/she can make sure I hit my personal targets in a stipulated period of time that I’d set for myself, thereby allowing me to be more efficient in my exercise routine. Moreover, I can meet someone new in the form of this trainer. Through our shared experiences, I can build a bond and overtime, even forge friendship with him/her. The trainer can act as an additional source of help if I need any advice that I used to get from you. Well, dad and mum are just too busy, as usual. Besides that, the trainer’s constant encouragement to never stop giving up will push me to instil the same attitude towards my studies as well. It’s killing many birds with one stone indeed! Once the trainer is hired, I intend to start arranging for sessions as soon as possible. I want to get up to speed with exercising so that my brain gets enough oxygen to make me study and remember better. With a trainer, exercising becomes a play and you know how all work and no play makes Ethan a dull boy, right? Oh, just to let you know: a tracker would be useless if there was no exercise plan. As for the gym membership, I simply lack the self-discipline to drag myself to the gym to exercise on a regular basis. You see, I’ve used Critical Thinking to analyse the situation for myself. Aren’t you proud of your little brother? Got to go now. Dad and mum remind you to come back earlier for Christmas if you can. Bye! Your appreciative brother, Cheng (361 words) Written by Ethan Cheng (4S2, 2018) Edited by LSF Commented [WU1]: Use Capitalisation non Donald Trump style Commented [WU2]: Give a context of where your brother is and why he can afford to invest in you Commented [WU3]: Impactful use of ‘And’ to start a sentence to show connectedness with a concerned brother almost in speech style Commented [WU4]: Use an idiom Commented [WU5]: Use of “–“ to show off to marker and a joke to entertain the reader Commented [WU6]: Use of connectors to achieve coherence and cohesion.
