From: jonathantan458@gmail.com To: RajeshGops@sass.moe.edu.sg Date:2/5/2018 Subject: June holiday outing to “A War Trail” (June 1st) Dear Mr Raj, After three months of hard work and relentless revision, the class outing is well deserved and can revitalize the class. At the same time, it would serve as a short break before the up coming major examination at the end of the year. Between the two trails, I have chosen to organise “Changi WW2: A War Trail by Changi Museum”. This outing will allow the class to understand more about Singapore during the Japanese occupation. We can also learn history in a more interactive way. The Firstly, the class will enjoy the learning journey as the trail consists of a fully guided visit to the Changi Museum and Changi Chapel where war-time artefacts would give them more details about the past experiences. Moreover, a walk on Changi beach – site where the infamous Sook Ching massacres took place -- will instil empathy within the class as they experience get to imagine the despair of those who were executed. The walk is then followed by driving through changi Changi village Village, enabling the class to learn more about the colourful pre-war and war-time history of this historic seaside location. Lastly, there will be brief stops outside the old Changi Jail and Selarang Barracks which would truly be andan eye opener as the class would experience the visual setting of what the prisoner went through during the war. All in all, the learning journey will be fruitful and beneficial to my classmatesthe class as they we wouldwill have get a true experience understanding of what Singapore underwent during the dark days of Japanese occupation apart from learning it on the textbook. As for logistics arrangement, I will book for the tour via the internet Internet and it will be held on the first of1st June (8am) where the class will return to school during the June holidays dressed in their P. E attire. A coach will also be booked for the class to be transported to the location. Upon arrival at Changi Museum, the tour will officially begin at around 108.30 am where and it would will last for approximately four hours before the class leave for lunch at the Changi Beach hacker hawker centre. Lastly, the class class s will be transported back to school where they wouldand be dismissed at about 2pm. I hope that you will accept my proposal and permit us to carry out this class outing so that the classwe can have a memorable and enriching day together.
