Do not use staples, paper clips, glue, correction fluid, tape or highlighters. Answer Section A, Section B and one question from Section C.
2 Section A [10 marks] Carefully read the text below, consisting of 12 lines, about the future of food. The first and last lines are correct. For eight of the lines, there is one grammatical error in each line. There are two more lines with no errors. If there is NO error in a line, put a tick (✓) in the space provided. If the line is incorrect, circle the incorrect word and write the correct word in the space provided. The correct word you provide must not change the original meaning of the sentence. Examples: I arrived to my destination at 2pm. at My mother always wears sensible clothes. ✓ It ought to be obvious to anyone with an appetite that the way we eat is not sustaining – and that something fundamental will have to shift if we do not want our civilisation to end up at crisis - half the world obese and the other half under water. It is in this context that “future food” – food that promises to be good for you and the animals and the environment – have taken on the buzz. Entomophagy or eating insects are gradually gaining traction as insects are a reliable source for protein and micronutrients. Although we can get our heads around factory-farmed chicken, and the Impossible Burger, we could probably get our heads around cricket flour and mealworm Bolognese.
