How can societies ensure Artificial Intelligence is used responsibly?

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly being used in areas such as education, healthcare, business and communication. It has brought many benefits, including greater efficiency and easier access to information. However, concerns have also been raised about the misuse of AI, such as the spread of misinformation and threats to privacy. Governments, technology companies, schools and citizens have all been called upon to help address these challenges. As the use of AI becomes more widespread, ensuring that it is used responsibly has become an important issue for societies around the world. Study the following sources to find out how societies can ensure AI is used responsibly. *An algorithm is a step-by-step set of instructions or rules used to carry out a task. Some developed hatred towards particular communities, expressed support for violence and eventually made preparations to carry out attacks. These cases show that youth radicalisation can become increasingly serious when warning signs are not recognised and addressed early. Extract 2 Governments take measures to prevent terrorist attacks within their countries. These include strengthening border controls and introducing laws that allow the authorities to act against suspected threats before attacks occur. Extract 3 Terrorist networks may operate across national borders, making them difficult for one country to address alone. Countries therefore cooperate by sharing intelligence and coordinating their counter-terrorism efforts through international organisations. One of the things that we have urged is that we work together. There should be collaboration between industry and government as we try to figure out this new technology together. We have always said that AI is too important to leave it uncontrolled, but controlled smartly so that its benefits are not limited. We have to allow innovation to continue while making sure that the right safeguards are in place. As AI models become more powerful, they may create risks, but they also bring incredible benefits. Governments and technology companies need to work together to figure out how to use this technology while addressing those risks. To address the challenges posed by AI, a balance needs to be found between using technology and maintaining human judgement. AI should support people in making decisions rather than replace critical thinking. Human oversight is important to ensure that AI systems are used responsibly. Everyone involved in the use of AI should understand their responsibilities. People should also have enough information to make their own judgements and challenge AI-generated suggestions when necessary.” When an AI system causes harm, the people involved should be held accountable. AI itself cannot be held responsible because it cannot understand the consequences of its actions or make moral decisions. Therefore, responsibility must remain with humans. AI creators conduct advanced AI research, develop new AI systems and find new ways to use AI. AI practitioners have the skillsets to implement and deploy AI systems, models and algorithms in organisations. AI users are equipped to use AI-powered solutions and services to increase productivity and take up better jobs. While we welcome the opportunities that come with AI advancements, we must also guard against the risks of misuse. AI can intensify existing threats such as cyberattacks, scams and fake news. Safeguards are therefore necessary. Singapore has taken steps to promote the safe and responsible use of AI. Singapore launched the AI Verify Foundation to promote the responsible use of AI and announced a Pr
