Answer each response with concision (cap 6 lines) d. Establish a tone of political formality e. Solutions must be DIRE (detailed, implementable, relevant and effective) 4. 议论文 a. Establish a firm stance b. Use a variety of 论证方法 and 修辞手法 to support your points c. PLAN beforehand d. Use short fables to reinforce your point (if applicable) e. If you use 比喻论证, be consistent and restate the metaphor at the conclusion f. Explain everything clearly → the marker should not have to read your script twice in order to fully understand it g. ALWAYS link back to the 中心论点 in order to preserve textual cohesion h. Try not to fake studies and statistics

2 5. 材料作文 a. 开头：照抄材料 + 立场 i. 措施: 支持/不支持 (usually write 支持) ii. 现象：欣慰/担忧 iii. Singular incidents: 感动/气愤 iv. 观点：同意/不同意 b. Split the 材料 into three points (normally 1 略, 2 详) c. Explanations must be based on the 材料 d. Identify and analyse based on the following points： i. Features (what properties does XXX have which intensified the issue? E.g. widespread utilisation?) ii. Reasons (Societal culture? Lack of discernment? Ulterior motivations?) iii. Impacts (positive / negative, scale, internal / external, etc.) e. DO NOT WRITE 建议 f. Include as many linguistic devices as possible (e.g. 设问，比喻等) in order to engage your reader in an otherwise drier-than-sahara essay 6. 演讲稿 a. 称呼：尊敬的主席、校长、评审、老师、来宾、同学们 etc. b. 开场白：大家好！今天我演讲的题目是 XXX (no self-introduction) i. 开门见山 ii. 出语惊人 (give a shocking statistic / anecdote / etc. to engage the audience) iii. 巧用修辞: 比喻、比拟、夸张、设问、反问 (more engaging) iv. 名言典故 (insert some literary quote to convey the impression that your speech would be insightful) c. 中心论点 should be embedded into your introduction d. 结束语: Reiterate stance, throw in some aspiration, and end with 我的演 讲到此结束，谢谢大家！ e.
