The Globalisation of Economic Activity 1 Fig. 1 shows the number of countries in different worl d regions where average income per person was lower or higher in the period of 1990-1995 than it had been before. (a) Describe the main features of the global pattern shown. [4] (b) How does the globalisation of economic activity help account for the main features described in (a)? [8] Population Issues and Challenges 2 Fig. 2A shows GDP per person in 1997 and total fertility rate (TFR), 1995-2000, for 25 LDCs. Fig.2B shows the percentage contribution of biological variables to reducing TFR in LDCs. (a) Describe the relationship between the two variables in Fig. 2A. [2] (b) Suggest reasons for the relationship between GDP per person and TFR that you identified in (a). [4] (c) With the help of an example or examples, de scribe and explain the effects on TFR of any two of the biological variables shown in Fig. 2B.
